Alumni Community

First and foremost, THANK YOU...

  • For your generous support of our programs and the HECUA community by continuing your involvement and staying in touch.
  • For recognizing the unique qualities of the HECUA model of teaching and learning in local and global communities.
  • For spreading the word about our programs to friends and family to increase our visibility and public recognition.
  • For being agents of change in your local communities.

Please consider the following ways to stay connected and involved with HECUA work:

Share Your Story

Tell us about an experience you had on your HECUA program that is still with you today. Sometimes the greatest moments of clarity happen long after the completion of a HECUA program, so please share recent revelations or tell us what work you are currently involved in.

Hire and Mentor HECUA Students and Alumni

Pass on the HECUA experience. As a past participant you know what happens when students, faculty and community members come together to address social issues – immediate and lifelong learning, collective action for social justice, shared democracy and discovery of personal vocations and careers. As students complete programs they look to others who can relate to their level of interest and help them take their next steps…whatever those may be. Please email us if you have job openings or internship placements suitable for HECUA alumni or students still in college. Job and internship openings will be placed on our jobs board.

Contribute Funds that Will Serve as Scholarships for Students

HECUA offers a whole new way of looking at the world. To keep the vision in focus, for yourself and others, we invite you to make a contribution that will keep you connected with HECUA and provide financial support to students in need. Each year HECUA provides six $500 scholarships to participants. We are working hard to increase the amount of aid and number of recipients and ask that you join us in our efforts to boost scholarships this year. All donations received will be allocated to our current campaign “Scholarships for Social Justice”. Please click on the below link, print out the pledge sheet and mail, with your contribution, to:

Upcoming Events to Consider

Working for Change Workshop: Careers, Vocation, and Social Justice
Date: Monday, March 31st, 2008 from 11:00am to 4:00pm

Location: University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus

Conference summary:
The Idealist.org Nonprofit Career Fair is partnering with the Working for Change conference this year. This event provides the opportunity to explore careers with a focus on social justice – with particular focus on jobs in the nonprofit field. There will be speakers, workshops, and panels to attend in order to gain more information about working for change. Presenters are employed in a variety of nonprofits, schools, and other organizations that represent pathways to social change. By attending you will gain a better understanding of career options, learn what it takes to work for change while getting paid, and network with people who have similar interests and values. In additional to the workshops, the Idealist.org Nonprofit Career Fair brings in roughly 80 nonprofit organizations that are recruiting for current and future employment, internship, and volunteer opportunities.

For more information, visit the Working for Change page.
