Administrative Assistant
Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP)

Description: IATP seeks a full-time administrative assistant to support members of IATP's Management Team. In addition, the administrative assistant will work closely with members of IATP's Admin Team to facilitate IATP's day-to-day operations.  The Administrative Assistant reports to the Finance Director. The successful candidate will have administrative experience, preferably in a non-profit setting, be attentive to detail, and possess strong multi-tasking, organizing and communication skills.

Responsibilities
• Assist with general administrative tasks and other assignments for IATP's President, VP of Programs , and VP for Development
• Finalize letters, articles and documents, including copyediting, formatting and mailing
• Help maintain contact database and IATP's intranet library/FAQs
• Assist in organizing events
• Maintain reception area and meeting rooms at IATP for meetings and visitors; schedule meeting rooms for IATP's tenants
• Coordinate communications with IATP's Board of Directors
• Maintain contacts for IATP's President
• Assist President (and in some cases, other senior management)with travel arrangements, scheduling meetings and arranging speaking engagements
• Assist President with management of correspondence, documents and expenses.
• Greet and direct visitors, answer main phone line
• Handle mailings, including performing mail merges
• Assist the President in developing and managing IATP's China Program, including but not limited to conducting web-based research, handling logistics for visitors, and managing interns/volunteers • Coordinate search and placement of IATP interns
• Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications
• Excellent written and oral communication skills required
• Well-organized, self-motivated, self-starter (important)
• Minimum of one year of administrative experience required
• Experience with word processing and database required; experience with Microsoft Office 2007 a plus.
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people on teams required
• Internet and web experience would be preferred
• Experience in developing outreach materials preferred

Marketing & Communications Intern

SCOPE: Works with the Development & Marketing Coordinator (Katheryn Pettie) to help YouthCARE develop and achieve its marketing and communications goals for the 2008-09 year.  Intern also works with YouthLEAD Program Director (Shaina Abraham) and members of the Youth Advisory Council to incorporate youth input into the marketing efforts.

Responsibilities: Assist with the development and implementation of YouthCARE’s marketing and communication goals.

Coordinate Media Campaign - 25%
- Develop a proactive media campaign
- Update and maintain a database of Spanish- and English-language media outlets and reporters
- Monitor news and respond to stories with an SOA/ WHINSEC connection
- Send out news releases; host press conferences; develop messaging strategies
- Pitch stories to mainstream and alternative, national and international, English and Spanish media
- Field media inquiries and interview requests by either handling them or directing them to others as appropriate(including photos, background info, etc)

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director of Programs is responsible for supervision and oversight of program activities. Reporting to and working closely with the Executive Director, the candidate will undertake planning, monitoring, and coordination of existing operational programs, including but not limited to, supervision of program managers who themselves work directly with over 100 volunteer staff members, customer service interaction with college students and faculty from around the world, and coordination with partner organizations and vendors.

The Director of Programs must have a demonstrated commitment to experiential education. The ideal candidate will be process-oriented with the ability to facilitate team communication and work plans and the proven capacity to plan and adhere to established budgets and timelines. The Director of Programs must be highly organized and skilled at identifying barriers to program operations and flexible in the identification of potential solutions. Program Director for Global Immersion

The Carlson School of Management's Office of International Programs is looking to hire a program director for Global Immersion (semester length education abroad) programs. The Office of International Programs develops and leads the School's international strategy and program portfolio. Currently, nearly 50% of Carlson School undergraduate students participate in study abroad and beginning fall 2008, a mandatory international experience will be a cornerstone of all incoming undergraduates' four-year degree.

Position Overview:
The Global Immersion (GI) Program Director will provide direction for program initiatives associated with incoming and outgoing undergraduate and graduate business student exchange and other related programs in the International Programs Office at the Carlson School of Management. The program director will develop and manage all GI relations with the Carlson School's international partner schools; coordinate and promote exchange and other programs to Carlson School undergraduate and graduate students; manage relations between U of M and Carlson School offices in support of increasing the number of Carlson students studying abroad; and produce all related communication materials. The program director will direct the work of a program associate and oversee all program management of GI activities including registration, academics, admission, housing and visa procedures. The program director also will develop and manage the GI financial budgets and expenses.

Study Abroad Advisor

Position dates October 1, 2008 -- January 16, 2009. This position is part of the Gustavus Adolphus Office of International Education which consists of five staff and 15 student workers. This position reports to the Director of International and Cultural Education.

This is an excellent opportunity for a previous professional looking to re-enter the field, for a current graduate student seeking an internship in Education Abroad, or a recent graduate looking to break into the field and get hands-on experience.

The Study Abroad Advisor will oversee the advising and processes for semester and year long study abroad students at Gustavus Adolphus College located in St. Peter, Minnesota (about 1 hour south of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Twin Cities area.).

Duties include: student advising (general program advising and program specific advising and application processing), management of Gustavus internal applications and Gustavus required forms, serve as main point of contact for all semester and year-long study abroad students, maintain contact with program providers, assistance with Gustavus Semester in Sweden program administration, supervision of two work-study students and two study abroad interns/peer advisors, problem-solving and crisis management assistance, collaboration with OIE Finance Manager on student billing and cost estimates, pre-departure orientation and on-line evaluations, oversight of the November study abroad fair, embassy registrations and creation of emergency information binder, among other items.
